Scorpio 1° “The encircling arms of love.”

Scorpio 1

The Span of Retention – The 1st Hemisphere of Scorpio

Phase 211

Water Element – Fixed

The formula is: sustaining-ideal-universal-specializing-physical-experimental.

Dr. Marc Edmund Jones provides the official meaning of this Sabian symbol in his work, The Sabian Symbols in Astrology:

Scorpio 1° A sight-seeing bus

This is a symbol of the individual spirit in its catholicity, and of the naïveté and indomitability of its interest in life as a whole. Here man is freed from all artificial boundaries of experience, and is encouraged to reach out widely and profitably in sharing his realizations with his fellows. There is an exceptional range of understanding and sympathy, and a gift for developing varying avenues of self-expression.

The Keyword is FRIENDLINESS.

When positive, the degree is a basic impersonality which capitalizes on the opportunity of the moment and helps reorder the situation whenever there is difficulty or dissatisfaction, and when negative, a genius for avoiding any and every actual expenditure of self.

Cosmic Evolution in Seven Stanzas translated from the Book of Dzyan

STANZA I I.

  1. Where were the builders, the luminous sons of Manvantaric dawn? . . . In the unknown darkness in their Ah-hi Paranishpanna. The producers of form from no-form — the root of the world—the Devamatri and Svabhavat, rested in the bliss of non-being.
  2. Where was silence? Where the ears to sense it? No, there was neither silence nor sound; naught save ceaseless eternal breath, which knows itself not.
  3. The hour had not yet struck; the ray had not yet flashed into the Germ; the Matripadma had not yet swollen.
  4. Her heart had not yet opened for the one ray to enter, thence to fall, as three into four, into the lap of Maya.
  5. The seven sons were not yet born from the web of light. Darkness alone was father-mother, Svabhavat; and Svabhavat was in darkness.
  6. These two are the Germ, and the Germ is one. The Universe was still concealed in the Divine thought and the Divine bosom. . . .

Scorpio 15° “Just a hint of things to come.”

The Span of Retention – The 1st Hemisphere of Scorpio

Phase 225

Water Element – Fixed

The formula is: sustaining-ideal-universal-specializing-spiritual-inspired.

Dr. Marc Edmund Jones provides the official meaning of this Sabian symbol in his work, The Sabian Symbols in Astrology:

Scorpio 15° Children playing around five mounds of sand

This is a symbol of absolute self-integrity at a simple extreme of social consciousness, or of the human spirit in its nascent competence for meeting all possible eventualities. There is here a dramatization of the psychological faculties as a means for contact with other people, and of the illimitable capacity for experience in any situation where man may find himself. The individual is able to deal with whatever may arise in the circumstances of his being, and to commit himself to whatever proves to be worth while.

The Keyword is NAIVETE.

When positive, the degree is a gift for a continual discovery of new and effective facets of selfhood, and when negative, wholly purposeless ineptitude.

The Sandman

by Margaret Thomson Janvier

The rosy clouds float overhead,

The sun is going down;

And now the sandman’s gentle tread

Comes stealing through the town.

“White sand, white sand,” he softly cries,

And as he shakes his hand,

Straightway there lies on babies’ eyes

His gift of shining sand.

Blue eyes, gray eyes, black eyes, and brown,

As shuts the rose, they softly close, when he goes through the town.

From sunny beaches far away

-Yes, in another land –

He gathers up at break of day

His stone of shining sand.

No tempests beat that shore remote,

No ships may sail that way;

His little boat alone may float

Within that lovely bay.

Blue eyes, gray eyes, black eyes, and brown,

As shuts the rose, they softly close, when he goes through the town.

He smiles to see the eyelids close

Above the happy eyes;

And every child right well he knows, –

Oh, he is very wise!

But if, as he goes through the land,

A naughty baby cries,

His other hand takes dull gray sand

To close the wakeful eyes.

Blue eyes, gray eyes, black eyes, and brown,

As shuts the rose, they softly close, when he goes through the town.

So when you hear the sandman’s song

Sound through the twilight sweet,

Be sure you do not keep him long

A-waiting in the street.

Lie softly down, dear little head,

Rest quiet, busy hands,

Till, by your bed his good-night said,

He strews the shining sands.

Blue eyes, gray eyes, black eyes, and brown,

As shuts the rose, they softly close, when he goes through the town.

The Span of Retention – The 1st Hemisphere of Scorpio

Phase 224

Water Element – Fixed

The formula is: sustaining-ideal-universal-specializing-spiritual-responsible.

Dr. Marc Edmund Jones provides the official meaning of this Sabian symbol in his work, The Sabian Symbols in Astrology:

Scorpio 14° Telephone linemen at work

This is a symbol of the interconnection which links all phases of existence with all others, and of man’s special genius for expanding the relationship between the most widely separated and distinctive aspects of experience. Implicit in the symbolism is a responsibility on the part of all higher life for all lower, and a faithfulness of all lesser things to the requirements of the greater. Here is emphasis on self-specialization as the root mode of all individual being.

The Keyword is ATTACHMENT.

When positive, the degree is an effective penetration of human competence into each pertinent complex of everyday living, and when negative, unnecessary concern over the affairs of others.

Scorpio 9° “Tiny things lead to great things.”

Scorpio 9

The Span of Retention – The 1st Hemisphere of Scorpio

Phase 219

Water Element – Fixed

The formula is: sustaining-ideal-universal-specializing-social-responsible.

Dr. Marc Edmund Jones provides the official meaning of this Sabian symbol in his work, The Sabian Symbols in Astrology:

Scorpio 9° Dental work

This is a symbol of self-renewal through a continuous and conscientious attention to the needs of the being on all planes of effort, and of that stewardship of an inner and divine spark through which individuality sustains its spiritual citizenship in the symbolical community of its kind. Here are high personal rewards for every proper concern over one’s own potentialities and possessions. Man fulfills his highest mission as he dramatizes himself and his excellencies for his fellows.

The Keyword is PRACTICALITY.

When positive, the degree is a creative ingenuity brought to a real service for others, and when negative, a thoughtless acceptance of life’s makeshifts and an unhealthy admiration for artificiality.

Remembering lessons learned!

Your Testimony : Your DNA : Your Best Friend

We are doomed to repeat the lessons in our lives until we learn them. So, remember the lessons learned. When they become your “testimony”—your “I AM” existence—your revealed DNA coding—then more may be added to it. The day may come when you will be performing at a more highly-evolved state of existence—of consciousness—a you which you were always destined to become. The mysteries will unfold; if not, they will remain hidden until you choose to unlock them. Line upon line; precept by precept. Remember what you have learned! You are to become your own best friend!

Scorpio 8

The Span of Retention – The 1st Hemisphere of Scorpio

Phase 218

Water Element – Fixed

The formula is: sustaining-ideal-universal-specializing-social-receptive.

Dr. Marc Edmund Jones provides the official meaning of this Sabian symbol in his work, The Sabian Symbols in Astrology:

Scorpio 8° The moon shining across a lake

This is a symbol of the magic on which man always may call in facing any problems of inner or psychological adjustment. Implicit in the static symbolism is a fellowship of feeling which leads to all romance and which enables human hearts to gain their moments of release from the outer compulsions upon them and thus achieve their inner and more enduring orientation. Natural events here tend to shape themselves to meet the individual’s real yearning for a deeper experience.

The Keyword is RAPPORT.

When positive, the degree is an absolute and usually unsuspected mastery over the forces and exigencies of life and nature, and when negative, witless joy in the sheer vagaries of imagination.

Ready or not, a Joker has come trick-or-treating!

“Every deck of cards has a Joker or maybe two and normally in our work with the symbolism of the cards we don’t include the Joker. It is used as a cover for the deck so the top card isn’t observable until the Joker is removed. Then, before the cards are lifted to be shuffled the Joker is removed and set aside.

“As with all things, occasionally the order of doing is interrupted and the Joker ends up in the pack of cards and in your layout! When this happens, it has special meaning and needs special attention. The Joker stands for the unusual, the different and thus, when it appears in your layout, something is going on that holds a whole new potential of some nature. The mutation or ‘sport’ is a possibility here and that means a completely new and different eventuality. This is stronger than just black cards indicating a shift. This is a completely new birth of something that hasn’t been seen before – so, if this happens, pay attention to your Joker and where it is and just what it is striving to communicate to you. It is telling you that there is a whole new possibility in your life potential!” The Sabian symbols in Card Reading by Delle Fowler, pg. 51.

Water Element – Fixed

The formula is: sustaining-ideal-universal-specializing-social-sensitive.

Dr. Marc Edmund Jones provides the official meaning of this Sabian symbol in his work, The Sabian Symbols in Astrology:

Scorpio 7° Deep-sea divers

This is a symbol of the absolute integrity of man’s nature at root, dramatized here by his insatiable determination to plumb all experience to the depths and to uncover the illimitable reaches of potentiality in his world of everyday relationships. Implicit in the symbolism is a challenge to self-refinement through a subjection of the skills of self to every possible test or opportunity for a further perfection. Self-fulfillment is through an ever-increasing interest in day-by-day problems.

The Keyword is INVOLVEMENT.

When positive, the degree is a persistent penetration to the very vital core of human motive and make-up, and when negative, fundamentally unsocial instincts and a resort to wholly absurd escapism.

One of the most common types of religious stories all around the world is called a “creation myth”: it is the story people tell of how the world, and all the people and animals and plants, supposedly came to be. Scorpio 11° “I’m only doing my job.”

Scorpio 11

The Span of Retention – The 1st Hemisphere of Scorpio

Phase 221

Water Element – Fixed

The formula is: sustaining-ideal-universal-specializing-spiritual-experimental.

Dr. Marc Edmund Jones provides the official meaning of this Sabian symbol in his work, The Sabian Symbols in Astrology:

Scorpio 11° A drowning man rescued

This is a symbol of the soul’s personal immortality, and of its unabated eagerness in returning to the various phases of its experience again and again. There is here a consistent partnership between man and nature, so that the very accidents of circumstance can be counted on to serve him as long as he maintains his underlying enthusiasm of being. His consciousness has a continuity through his sense of responsibility for his own creative powers.

The Keyword is SAFETY.

When positive, the degree is the inherent courage which constitutes a protection from the vicissitudes of life, and when negative, a tendency to hysteria on the least occasion and a lean on transient excitement for all self-realization.

Bridge on the River Kwai https://youtu.be/83bmsluWHZc

Warning Signal Ahead!

“I’m only doing my job.” — These are possibly the most dangerous words that could be uttered; however, they can likewise be the most honorable and humble words that can be spoken. It all depends on whether they are being used as an excuse and self-justification for refusing to hear the voice of one’s own conscience or whether uttered by the one following the chosen path of one’s destiny–that unfathomably dangerous journey through life of one’s purpose in humility and in power.

“I’m only doing my job.”

Here’s to the Whistleblowers!

The piercing sound of the whistle shrills through the air. All eyes turn in its direction and see the whistleblower pointing to the distressed one. Others, you see, are closer, able more swiftly to respond. Those closest to the situation have been alerted! They race, they dive, they swim to get to the one at the heart of the emergency. They arrive just as quickly as possible, their adrenalin pumping through them like water through a fire hose. Stay out of their way—for Heaven’s sake!

A Second Chance

Today is dedicated to the whistle-blowers, the ones “dedicated to identifying and pointing out the distressed situation and person in need of relief” to render ultimate and immortal assistance to those who have gone too far, those who have jumped in over their heads or, in the words of Dane Rudhyar, “…the person who carelessly, perhaps, ventured too far beyond his depth and then was given a ‘second chance’ to live…”. The whistleblower is the one who “risks his life to save another. … Love based on a sense of responsibility—even that of a chance bystander.” He comes for safety’s sake.

Somebody’s got to do it. Have you been called? If so that makes you responsible. Sure, the choice is still yours, but whichever way you chose–to respond or to tuck tail and run–the consequences are likewise attached. What matters is WILL YOU ANSWER THE CALL? Remember, there are two ways to think about this, to answer the call with… or to bow out with…

Water Element – Fixed

The formula is: sustaining-ideal-universal-specializing-spiritual-sensitive.

Dr. Marc Edmund Jones provides the official meaning of this Sabian symbol in his work, The Sabian Symbols in Astrology:

Scorpio 12° An embassy ball

This is a symbol of human imagination as the most effective corrective for man’s allegiances, and of the social dramatizations which enable each person to know whether his over-all loyalties are bringing him the self-fulfillment to which he aspires. Implicit in the symbolism is an emphasis on the practical values of life, and on the political organization of society as either a consummation or exploitation of personal potentialities. Civilization exhibits the individuality as it frames itself in the general scheme.

The Keyword is DISPLAY.

“This city is riddled with subterranean rivers, and there is one whose path flows directly beneath the grounds of Buckingham Palace. As the story goes, this friend-of-a-friend-of-a-friend had been walking the course of that river when he decided to pop up and take a look at the surface. He’d lifted a drain lid, heaving it open from beneath, only to find himself face-to-face with the muzzle of an assault rifle; as it transpired he had emerged, quite by accident, within the palace grounds. … We walked for perhaps half an hour through the dank and dusty brickwork, occasionally hopping over the loose cables which trailed like severed nerves from wall-mounted synapses. The tunnel gave no sign of ending: it simply burrowed on ahead, a purgatory of iron, brick and plastic tubes. …” The Bohemian Blog—London Asunder

What all men understand best in their own terms is what each may make the convenient basis for his appreciation of the others in his recurrent relations with them.

They call the 800-ton Spruce Goose, “The monumental folly” of billionaire Howard Hughes. But was it? From whose perspective? Was it was not but a labor of love and self-conquest of a dream, even if that of an eccentric rich man? Here’s the undeniable fact, regardless of historical or hysterical perspective: IT FLEW! Yes, for just one mile—one, single, solitary mile! Here is an individual who followed his dream and he watched it take flight! Can we say the same of our inventions?! Are we willing to manifest our dreams—no matter how crazy and unbelievable they may appear to others–so that they, too, can have their moment in time to fly above perceived limitations?

“Come to the edge,” he said.

“We can’t, we’re afraid!” they responded.

“Come to the edge,” he said.

“We can’t, We will fall!” they responded.

“Come to the edge,” he said.

And so they came.

And he pushed them.

And they flew.”

― Guillaume Apollinaire

To know the “wonder” of ourselves, we must engage both the scientist and the artist, as da Vinci told us. That’s the secret to making your dreams come true!

Be clever! Get ‘er done!
