Sagittarius 10° “Pivotal moment ahead.”

Sg 10

The Span of Receptiveness – The 1st Hemisphere of Sagittarius

Phase 250

Fire Element – Mutable or Common

The formula is: manipulating-practical-original-specializing-social-inspired.

Dr. Marc Edmund Jones provides the official meaning of this Sabian symbol in his work, The Sabian Symbols in Astrology:

Sagittarius 10° A golden-haired goddess of opportunity

This is a symbol of the sure protection afforded every individual who enters experience with a genuine self-expenditure, and of the inevitable good fortune coming to those who refuse to be dependent on encouragement or support from others. Implicit in the symbolism is the principle that nature always takes care of her own, and that potentiality best fulfills itself in its sure grasp of itself. Man is prospered as his expectation remains wholly unconditioned.

The Keyword is REWARD.

When positive, the degree is an irresistible confidence in self and a tireless outreaching to all the wonders of an everyday world, and when negative, consistent diversion of effort to worthless ends.

NewSong ~ The Christmas Shoes https://youtu.be/GJcPVB-we7g

The Chinese word for “crisis” is frequently invoked in Western motivational speaking because the word is composed of two sino-characters that can represent “danger” and “opportunity”. Chinese philologist Victor H. Mair of the University of Pennsylvania states the popular interpretation … is a “widespread public misperception” in the English-speaking world. While [it] does mean “dangerous” or “precarious”, the element … is highly polysemous. The basic theme common to its meaning is something like “critical point”. “Opportunity” in Chinese is instead a compound noun that contains … “meeting a critical point”). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinese_word_for_%22crisis%22

Highly Polysemous – Meeting the Critical Point of Opportunity

Consciousness is reality. The unformed matter of snow takes on the form of whatever is at its base. Reality acts as the snow does, it follows the outline that the individual consciousness holds as the mold. Our expectations are our mold. We can change our reality if we can change the meanings we assign to our experiences. It stands to reason that if we change our attitude about a situation, we will change the reality, just as the next snowfall will take the shape of any new fence or house built on the landscape. A new beginning is possible now. (Delle Fowler writes of the Ace of Diamonds https://www.abebooks.com/book-search/title/sabian-symbols-card-reading/author/fowler/)

Sagittarius 9° “Dreams and schemes along the way.”

Sg 9

The Span of Receptiveness – The 1st Hemisphere of Sagittarius

Phase 249

Fire Element – Mutable or Common

The formula is: manipulating-practical-original-specializing-social-responsible.

Dr. Marc Edmund Jones provides the official meaning of this Sabian symbol in his work, The Sabian Symbols in Astrology:

Sagittarius 9° A mother with her children on stairs

This is a symbol of extreme alertness to the interests and needs of others, and of high competency in pursuing any and all ideal ends in view. There is a basic emphasis on the inescapable duty of man to remember that he is his brother’s keeper, and that he must develop and demonstrate a genuine social conscience. Here are the fine fruits of service to humanity, evident in the individual’s continual rounding-out of his community usefulness and the increasing recompense he gains through the approbation of his fellows.

The Keyword is EDUCATION.

When positive, the degree is effective response to every personal challenge in everyday affairs, and when negative, immature act and reaction.

Two Little Shoes http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FfiKgD-QrQw

It comes to pass

You are either ascending or descending. Both sets of skills are required to master the stair steps. Bumps and bruises are part of the rite of passage. Can’t fall up, only down, by the way. But you can stumble, so, watch your step! You only have to focus on the one right in front of you. In fact, if you don’t—if you look ahead or behind—that’s where the bumps, bruises and falling down things are sure to occur. Power is in the present step! But this isn’t just about development of a practical and necessary skill! The stairway is a passage-way of ascension and/or descension. It is that amazing assembly by which we enter either higher or lower levels and dimensions. After learning to walk, a mother knows her child must now master the stairs!

Mother, may I? Yes, you may.

Fortunately, loved ones are standing by as we learn to navigate. At first she or he will carry you up and down those stairs, save you from your premature curiosity as you crawl dangerously towards discovery, then the holding of your hand as you make your first attempts. Eventually you will be trusted to be on your own, but may forget to appreciate the assistance you had along the way.

“Leave me alone, I can do it myself!”

A good tumble at this point is nothing more than nature’s reminder that there are reasons we aren’t here alone. Then she will come and wipe away the tear, bandage the bloodied knee, and retie the loose shoe strings. Before you know it you’ll be up and at it again, with renewed confidence. We are learning, you see, about the ups and the downs of life. All she expects of us is the best we can do, can give—nothing more, nothing less. That will always be good enough. And then one day it will happen! One day, you will exclaim:

“Look, Ma! I did it!” And she will smile and wink back, “I always knew you could!”

Sagittarius 9

Sagittarius 8° “Do we have stones in our heads?”

Sg 8

The Span of Receptiveness – The 1st Hemisphere of Sagittarius

Phase 248

Fire Element – Mutable or Common

The formula is: manipulating-practical-original-specializing-social-receptive.

Dr. Marc Edmund Jones provides the official meaning of this Sabian symbol in his work, The Sabian Symbols in Astrology:

Sagittarius 8° Rocks and things forming therein

This is a symbol of the necessity that man create his own reality out of the actual situations in which he becomes involved, and that he do so by taking control of the circumstances which provide the matrix for his everyday existence. Implicit in this symbolism of nature’s processes is the demand that the stabilities thereby established be taken as a foundation for all consequent and individual initiative. Each person in accepting his roots and capitalizing on his own endowment is enabled to proceed to high achievement.

The Keyword is COMPOSITION.

When positive, the degree is exceptional ability to mold or remold the course of events, and when negative, persisting inner confusion.

Grok this! Your Pineal Gland

Rocks? Stones? Six of one, half-dozen of the other… Either way you’ve got ’em!

The Universal Mind certainly has stones in it—they are simply referred to as planets, stars, asteroids, and comets–but did you know this fascinating fact: a plant cell is exactly one trillion times smaller than the earth and has “stones” in it, too.

Seeding the Consciousness

“View the Milky Way at 10 million light years from the Earth. Then move through space towards the Earth in successive orders of magnitude until you reach a tall oak tree just outside the buildings of the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory in Tallahassee, Florida. After that, begin to move from the actual size of a leaf into a microscopic world that reveals leaf cell walls, the cell nucleus, chromatin, DNA and finally, into the subatomic universe of electrons and protons.” Rattle the stones in your head

Stone by Charles Simic

Go inside a stone

That would be my way.

Let somebody else become a dove

Or gnash with a tiger’s tooth.

I am happy to be a stone.

From the outside the stone is a riddle:

No one knows how to answer it.

Yet within, it must be cool and quiet

Even though a cow steps on it full weight,

Even though a child throws it in a river;

The stone sinks, slow, unperturbed

To the river bottom

Where the fishes come to knock on it

And listen.

I have seen sparks fly out

When two stones are rubbed,

So perhaps it is not dark inside after all;

Perhaps there is a moon shining

From somewhere, as though behind a hill—

Just enough light to make out

The strange writings, the star-charts

On the inner walls.

Wrap your head around that concept!

Yes, if we are anything like the universe—and how could we be otherwise?—then we do have stones in our heads. That doesn’t make us stupid at all! It means that we are potentially wise beyond our present comprehension.

Can You Grok It?

Grok: To understand so thoroughly that the observer becomes a part of the observed—to merge, blend, intermarry, lose identity in group experience. It means almost everything that we mean by religion, philosophy, and science—and it means as little to us (because of our Earthling assumptions) as color means to a blind man.

Sagittarius 7 ~ Allurement

Sagittarius 7° ~ Cupid knocking at the door ~ Keyword: ALLUREMENT

When positive, the degree is an insatiable appetite for enlarged experience and highly self-consummative intimacies, and when negative, self-exaltation and unbridled desire.

This is a symbol of the unimpeachable resources of life on the side of social self-renewals and psychological self-fulfillment. Implicit in the symbolism are the incurably romantic leanings of mankind, and the consequent willingness of the individual to refine or alter every aspect of his own being as a means for entering into self-quickening relations with others. He associates with his fellows and then breaks the ties he makes with them, but in time he achieves a spiritual integrity.

Sg 6

The Span of Receptiveness – The 1st Hemisphere of Sagittarius

Phase 246

Fire Element – Mutable or Common

The formula is: manipulating-practical-original-specializing-social-experimental.

Dr. Marc Edmund Jones provides the official meaning of this Sabian symbol in his work, The Sabian Symbols in Astrology:

Sagittarius 6° A game of cricket

This is a symbol of man’s insatiable desire to refine and strengthen every last potentiality of his own personal character and skills, and of his need to gain recognition for his success in this from each area of life in which he finds himself.  Here is his capacity for holding steady in any given milieu of confusion in which he may participate, and for bringing a measure of stability to every situation in which he may be involved. Man is here at his best when he is most seriously challenged to be himself, and to play his part in strict accordance with the rules.

The keyword is SPORTSMANSHIP.

When positive, the degree is exceptional competency in crisis, and when negative, false pretense to personal excellence.

“It’s a lot like baseball. Except that it’s profoundly different.” Matthew Engel

So, what’s to be gotten from such nonsense as all this!

The Three Keys of Profundity:

1) Accept that superficial differences mask the essential truth.

2) Accept that both differences and similarities may still be operating on the same principle.

3) After grasping the similarities, perhaps you’ll start to understand and appreciate the differences.

Speaking of Crickets, how do they make that chirping noise?

False: They rub their legs together.

True: There is no insect that makes a noise by rubbing its back legs together.

Where did we get that idea then?

It’s just one of those weird fallacies that people cling to.

Consider: Snapple Real Fact #237:

The number of times a cricket chirps in 15 seconds, plus 37, will give you the current air temperature. Here are the Snapple Real Facts

Truth: Dolbear’s Law

Dolbear’s law states the relationship between the air temperature and the rate at which crickets chirp. It was formulated by Amos Dolbear and published in 1897 in an article called “The Cricket as a Thermometer.”

What Difference Does It make?!

Let’s just shake hands on it or rub legs on it, whichever you please… There now. That wasn’t so hard, was it?

Sagittarius 5° “I’m not guessing! I know!”

Sg 5

The Span of Receptiveness – The 1st Hemisphere of Sagittarius

Phase 245

Fire Element – Mutable or Common

The formula is: manipulating-practical-original-specializing-physical-inspired.

Dr. Marc Edmund Jones provides the official meaning of this Sabian symbol in his work, The Sabian Symbols in Astrology:

Sagittarius 5° An old owl up in a tree

This is a symbol of the necessary element of steadiness in human affairs, and of the extent to which the demonstrated and wisely accepted values of life must have their full and functioning part in the immediate reality with which an individual may be seeking to come to terms. Here is the power of man to give an eternal stability or a universal compulsion to whatever seems to call to his own deeper and private potentialities. Emphasized especially is the real dignity of self-respect.

The Keyword is NORMALITY.

When positive, the degree is exceptional wisdom or effective self-restraint in each detail of personal accomplishment, and when negative, self-betraying intellectual and emotional smugness.

Meet Zeus, the rescued, blind owl with starry eyes

“Owls have incredible camouflage talents; even at his new home Zeus continues to utilize his inbreed camouflage techniques. Many people have no idea Zeus is even in the room until someone points him out. If someone does notice the owl they often assume he is a stuffed animal because he so calm. Hahn says, “When he wakes and opens his eyes, people gasp. We have had people almost in tears when he reveals his peepers.”

The Things We Know: “One big medieval mess!” Merlin

The solution lies within the problem.

Do things seem a mess? Is the Gordian Knot still there refusing to be untangled, and you refusing to severe it from Zeus’s ox-cart? Must everything be so downright difficult?! Isn’t there some way to figure this confounded mess out without cheating, without regression, without giving up or giving in?

The Things We Don’t Know: “I told you, Archimedes, I’m not sure!” Merlin

Of function and circumstance and activity…

“The only difference between superstition and science is that the former knows, but does not know what it knows and so is never certain just what it is doing or exactly what it is to do with the signatures that have drifted into consciousness, whereas science refuses to know that which it cannot relate to what it already knows and which it cannot analyze or utilize with at least a degree of conscious direction. Knowledge is useless when it cannot be mastered, while mastery per se or trained abstract and unlimited intelligence is more or less independent of knowledge for the reason that it can find or create knowledge at will.” Marc Edmund Jones, Lesson VII Sabian Astrology

This is a symbol of the maximum possible encouragement of human personality on the practical or objective side, or of life’s continual stimulus to every potentiality of skill and character. There is a constant rehearsal and perfecting of function through which the conscious being gains and strengthens its powers.

Alexander the Great

Mom Stacked the Cards in His Favor

Did you know that on the night before Alexander the Great’s mother was wed, she had a dream?

Plutarch writes: “The night before the consummation of their marriage, she dreamed that a thunderbolt fell upon her body, which kindled a great fire, whose divided flames dispersed themselves all about, and then were extinguished.”

What about Dear Old Dad?

Alexander’s father Philip looked inside his wife’s bedroom and saw her in the embrace of a snake. This was interpreted to be the god Zeus-Ammon, who was considered by some to have been Alexander’s father.

Royal Birth Brings Down the House

The temple of Artemis burned, according to tradition, on the night on which Alexander the Great was born. The Persian Magi foretold great disaster for the Persian Empire.

Plutarch on the Birth of Alexander: “Alexander was born the sixth of Hecatombaeon, which month the Macedonians call Lous, the same day that the temple of Diana at Ephesus was burnt… The temple… took fire and was burnt while its mistress was absent, assisting at the birth of Alexander. And all the Eastern soothsayers who happened to be then at Ephesus, looking upon the ruin of this temple to be the forerunner of some other calamity, ran about the town, beating their faces, and crying, that this day had brought forth something that would prove fatal and destructive to all Asia.”

Fire Element – Mutable or Common

Dr. Marc Edmund Jones provides the official meaning of this Sabian symbol in his work, The Sabian Symbols in Astrology:

Sagittarius 3° Two men playing chess

This is a symbol of the self-confidence and authority which come to man through his refinement of skills and discipline of understanding, and of his capacity for mobilizing every potentiality of self at any point of challenge in events. Here is emphasis on the individual’s effective and profitable participation in a reality which he has been able to approach and master through the completeness of his perspective. His gift of concentration is his genius of self-fulfillment.

The Keyword is ABILITY.

When positive, the degree is high sensitiveness to every possibility of accomplishment or broadened self-discovery, and when negative, unsuspected bigotry or foolish exactitude.

The Hall of Fame ~ The Script

All Things in Opposition

Or you can just take the easy road, zone out, pretend it doesn’t matter if there is progress or not. Anyone can “opt out”, but then you know how that turns out, right? Who do you get to look at in the mirror each morning? Just you. Your eyes. Your lying eyes. Your windows to the soul. Yeah, that will rat you out every time. You could do something about your progress, regardless of the outer pressure.

Seedling Struggles

Yeah, that little seed in the ground? It works its hide off just to push one tiny sprout up through the ground. No taking it easy in the plant kingdom. Those kids in dysfunctional homes—the ones who did something with their lives—they know what it takes to tough it out and then move on with their lives. Those kids on easy street? Not so much. Loafers. Resting on the family laurels. May be a tougher kind of situation to rise above than the dysfunctional one. Who knows? Life is all about choices, moves, strategy… Then, zugzwang, if you aren’t paying close attention. Then either surrender or play out the rest of the game as if you had a chance… A waste of time really. Time to face the facts. Pick yourself up and start all over again.

Does It Matter?

Only if it matters to you. Do you want to look back at your life and say, “Damn! If I’d only tried a little bit harder! Why was I so lazy, so nonchalant? Why didn’t I care more about me? Why did I let the adversity kill me?”

Not Every Nut Grows

If each did, why we’d just be one big tree-trunk planet! No! The only nuts that make it are those that… that what? What exactly do those nuts have that you don’t? Or, maybe you do have nuts like that! I don’t know. Check it out: Remember that the Mighty Oak was Once a Nut Like You! And never ever ever ever forget that at the end of the game, all of the pieces go back in the box. Life is a game. Make the most of it.

Sagittarius 2° “Nothing can stop what’s coming.”

Sg 2

The Span of Receptiveness – The 1st Hemisphere of Sagittarius

Phase 243

Fire Element – Mutable or Common

The formula is: manipulating-practical-original-specializing-physical-sensitive.

Dr. Marc Edmund Jones provides the official meaning of this Sabian symbol in his work, The Sabian Symbols in Astrology:

Sagittarius 2° The ocean covered with whitecaps

This is a symbol of the unending availability of everything ever needed for life and experience, emphasized subjectively through the tireless anticipations of the human soul. Implicit in the symbolism is the necessity for giving direction to the restlessness of an over-all consciousness in which man’s immortal being is cradled, and for channeling this into a manifestation of personal energy. The individual prospers as he is self-quickened to his own potentialities.

The Keyword is IRREPRESSIBILITY.

When positive, the degree is an indomitable resourcefulness and a naïve delight in the problems of everyday living, and when negative, pointless irritability and nervous self-exhaustion.

“Whispering” Jack’s inimitable (and slightly cynical) rendition of the Akst-Davis classic “Baby Face” (1926) http://youtu.be/0TbRD0a0njQ

Baby Face, you’ve got the cutest little baby face, There’s not another one could take your place, Baby face, my poor heart is jumpin’, You sure have started somethin’, Baby face, I’m up in heaven when I’m in your fond embrace, I didn’t need a shove, ’cause I just fell in love, With your pretty baby face!

State the Nature of Your Business

Karma/Dharma. Every time. It’s karma or it’s dharma. That’s what this 3rd dimensional, linear, cause-and-effect world is for. That’s the reason it is. It serves a purpose. We can work out our stuff here. We get what we bargained for. We learn to aim higher next time an old choice comes up afresh. So, if you’re going to do it—if you’re going to get the most out of it this time ‘round, which by the way was your intention when you decided to come, then quit fooling around and get to it. It won’t be pretty but it will be worth it. And you don’t get to rest for good until it’s all done, until it’s all made right, until it’s brought back into balance. You do get naps though. So, hope you’re rested up because here it comes!

Sagittarius 1° “It’s time to pass the peace pipe.”

Sg 1

The Span of Receptiveness – The 1st Hemisphere of Sagittarius

Phase 241

Fire Element – Mutable or Common

The formula is: manipulating-practical-original-specializing-physical-experimental.

Dr. Marc Edmund Jones provides the official meaning of this Sabian symbol in his work, The Sabian Symbols in Astrology:

Sagittarius 1° A Grand Army of the Republic campfire

This is a symbol of man’s continuing appreciation of every phase of experience that ever has opened up for him, and his desire to live worthily as a basis for every present or future well-being. Here is an emphasis on a subjective passivity of value to the individual as it becomes the inner strength by which he may sustain himself at critical points in his affairs. In his periodic and symbolical return to center he regrasps each special potentiality of his being.

The Keyword is REMINISCENCE.

When positive, the degree is accomplishment through the cultivation and preservation of enduring ties with others, and when negative, superficial idleness and unhealthy veneration for the past.

Those Were the Days My Friend https://youtu.be/QO9A9u4GyGc

Now Cometh the Peace that Passeth Understanding

Let me have a toke on that. Ahh! That’s a good one! I remember that! Here, I’ve got one for you…. And so it goes. We gather to remember good times and bad. We come here to bare our souls so that we can refill with resolve to go back out there again, knowing that always there will be these—these to whom we may return—to enfold us and reclaim us and remind us who we are. So, here’s to the good times. We’re in this together—for better or for worse. Let that, my friend, be our solemn vow!

Remember by Christina Rossetti

Remember me when I am gone away,

Gone far away into the silent land;

When you can no more hold me by the hand,

Nor I half turn to go yet turning stay.

Remember me when no more day by day

You tell me of our future that you plann’d:

Only remember me; you understand

It will be late to counsel then or pray.

Yet if you should forget me for a while

And afterwards remember, do not grieve:

For if the darkness and corruption leave

A vestige of the thoughts that once I had,

Better by far you should forget and smile

Than that you should remember and be sad.

Those were the days my friend

Pass the pipe this way again…

“It’s time to pass the peace pipe.” Namaste ~ Saijin
