Sagittarius 30° “Close your eyes; smell the roses.”

The Span of Detachment – The 2nd Hemisphere of Sagittarius

Phase 270

Fire Element – Mutable or Common

The formula is: manipulating-practical-original-generalizing-spiritual-inspired.

Dr. Marc Edmund Jones provides the official meaning of this Sabian symbol in his work, The Sabian Symbols in Astrology:

Sagittarius 30° The Pope

This is a symbol of human excellence on the side of the special values exalted in the various social and political hierarchies of modern civilization, and of man’s ambition as entirely inadequate except as he is able to meet some exceptional need of everyday experience and so proceed to dramatize whatever abilities he may have developed in climbing to the position in which he finds himself. A person is strengthened within himself by the appreciation he succeeds in winning from his fellows.

The Keyword is SANCTITY.

When positive, the degree is an effective and spectacular sacrifice of self in some enduring service to the race at large, and when negative, inordinate love of self-display and surrender to a lust for power.

Fly to Paradise ~ Eric Whitacre’s Virtual Choir

To Make Holy

Sanctification is a Greek word “hagiamos” which translated means holiness. To sanctify, therefore, means to make holy. Here is the state of proper functioning. To sanctify someone or something is to set that person or thing apart for the use intended by its designer. A pen is “sanctified” when used to write. Eyeglasses are “sanctified” when used to improve sight. In the theological sense, things are sanctified when they are used for the purpose God intends. A human being is sanctified, therefore, when he or she lives according to God’s design .and purpose.” Source

The Smell of Roses

“People reportedly perceive the fragrance of roses although there are no roses present in a room or house. The experience is frequently related to a spiritual event of some importance. How do we explain this? The fragrance of roses and the smelling of roses is frequently mentioned in records of mystical experiences. How to explain it? I am not sure if there is a scientific answer. I haven’t seen any, not so far. However, it is a fact that strong spiritual, as well as other mental, activities can trigger accompanying sensory perceptions. The imaginative power, for example the intense thought on behalf of a beloved person, may produce a physical impression and presence of that person. The smelling of roses, being a refined and exquisite sensation, may be the equivalent of a highly-spiritual and, likewise, exquisite experience. Or it may be the spiritual compensation for a painful spiritual experience. Some mystics are invited to experience the dolors of Christ’s Passion. The smelling of roses may be the recompense for this ordeal, or a way of letting them know the deeper life-giving meaning of their experience.” Fr. Johann G. Roten, S.M.

Sagittarius 29° “When the heart is in full gear.”

The Span of Detachment – The 2nd Hemisphere of Sagittarius

Phase 269

Fire Element – Mutable or Common

The formula is: manipulating-practical-original-generalizing-spiritual-responsible.

Dr. Marc Edmund Jones provides the official meaning of this Sabian symbol in his work, The Sabian Symbols in Astrology:

Sagittarius 29° A fat boy mowing the lawn

This is a symbol of the contribution of familiar experience to the refinement of selfhood, given emphasis by the full self-expenditure required for any satisfactory acceptance into a fellowship with others. Here a practical attention to the immediate needs of the individual as a member of his group is the effective evidence to the broader competency. Social incentives inevitably come to overbalance the more primitive instincts and appetites.

The Keyword is PARTICIPATION.

When positive, the degree is the calm efficiency which enables man to pour all of himself into the mastery of any situation arising to challenge him, and when negative, complete perfunctoriness of thinking and doing.

Rejoice, Rejoice, Emmanuel

Shall come to thee, Oh Israel.

Oh come, Thou Wisdom from on high,

And order all things, far and nigh;

To us the path of knowledge show,

And cause us in her ways to go.

Rejoice, Rejoice, Emmanuel

Shall come to thee, Oh Israel.

I Will Go and Do

I’ve got your back, and I didn’t stutter.

Go ahead now. Mow your lawn! Shovel your snow! Draw your line in the sand! Get yourself in gear and show us–in your style! Demand self-light. Insist on self-growth. It will be hard work! But that is what you came to do. Perhaps your lawn is a crop circle? Perhaps your light is an aurora? Perhaps your line in the sand is an angel in disguise? Remember that that which is done in the physical realm, is done likewise in the spiritual realm. Be a wise creator. Create from the heart and master your holy self! Maintain control and control direction. Get out there and do what you know in your heart to do. It’s time to trim your hedges, cut your lawn, shovel the drive, blow the snow off the doorsteps or play and build in the sand. It’ time to present an orderly and manicured vision of you for the sake of your future.

It’s decision time.

Keywords: “Your Future” You are a seed child of light in a world of duality. “You” are here to spread “your” light. It starts at the roots and spreads upward. It pours out of the heart and radiates in all directions, connecting you with your higher realms and dimensions—a place from which you cannot return and see things ever again as they once were seen from the lower dimensions.

Ode: Intimations of Immortality

Our birth is but a sleep and a forgetting:

The Soul that rises with us, our life’s Star,

Hath had elsewhere its setting,

And cometh from afar:

Not in entire forgetfulness,

And not in utter nakedness,

But trailing clouds of glory do we come

From God, who is our home:

Heaven lies about us in our infancy!

Shades of the prison-house begin to close

Upon the growing Boy,

But he beholds the light, and whence it flows,

He sees it in his joy.

Sagittarius 28° “We are all dreams coming true.”

The Span of Detachment – The 2nd Hemisphere of Sagittarius

Phase 268

Fire Element – Mutable or Common

The formula is: manipulating-practical-original-generalizing-spiritual-receptive.

Dr. Marc Edmund Jones provides the official meaning of this Sabian symbol in his work, The Sabian Symbols in Astrology:

Sagittarius 28° An old bridge over a beautiful stream

This is a symbol of the eternal stability of the world at large, and of each person’s ability to preserve its form and function in full accordance with his own convenience. Implicit in the static symbolism is the complete dependability of man-made structures at their best, and the joy of nature in making them an enduring part of herself in every respect. What is ephemeral in any possible phase of the real is merely that which serves no purpose in its transient state of existence.

The Keyword is CONSERVATION.

When positive, the degree is an individual genius for fitting all needs and ideals into the universal patterns, and when negative, a total lack of initiative.

John Lewis’s Christmas – heart-warming Christmas advertisement: #ManOnTheMoon

Heavenly Bodies – It came upon a midnight clear

Here are the heavenly bodies, the luminous sculptures of light which we perceive only in the darkness. And as we gaze upon them, little do we realize the reciprocity of the occasion, for our own light energy patterns, our own auras, are perceived by them, as well. There is indeed a transference of energy, each glowing from its light within, speaking the stories of presence and existence from wherever, whenever and whatever we or they might be.

All of creation is a dream coming true. We all are light coming through. And in one another’s presence we meet and our lights, as well as our dreams, cross paths. And it is a dramatic and glorious response between the heavens and the earth.

The Galactic Center Speaks

Here at Sagittarius 28, the old bridge over a beautiful stream, it may well be that we lay out the welcome mat and receive our visitors upon life’s journey more than on any other particular degree. We are at the degree of the Galactic Center, you see. Enjoy this day as you play here with others, dance here with others, harmonize here with others. But also enjoy the magic that this portal brings—a moment in the cycle when we may play with cosmic characters, dance with them and harmonize with them, as well, for here it is that they stand in all their fullness of light and glory! And, likewise, so do you! Come! Let us dance and let us play together! Here is the old bridge over a beautiful stream. Here is the light of love. Step upon it and gaze upward!

I love you to the moon and back…

Sagittarius 27° “How will you be remembered?”

The Span of Detachment – The 2nd Hemisphere of Sagittarius

Phase 267

Fire Element – Mutable or Common

The formula is: manipulating-practical-original-generalizing-spiritual-sensitive.

Dr. Marc Edmund Jones provides the official meaning of this Sabian symbol in his work, The Sabian Symbols in Astrology:

This is a symbol of creative ability as the manifestation of self-consciousness in its maturity of realization, dramatized by an irresistible desire to endow all life with some enduring potentiality. Here are the enlarged horizons which follow from an individual’s mastery of his own particular talents, and from the expanded vision which he must develop and share with his fellows if he is to possess it for himself. He is able to idealize nature because he has brought her to subjection.

The Keyword is IMMORTALIZATION.

When positive, the degree is exceptional self-expression through a gift for building all experience into a personal fulfillment, and when negative, callous impersonality and overambitious pretensions.

Auroras

If I Only Had a Million

The Young Man came to the Old Man seeking counsel.

I broke something, Old Man.

How badly is it broken?

It’s in a million little pieces.

I’m afraid I can’t help you.

Why?

There’s nothing you can do.

Why?

It can’t be fixed.

Why?

It’s broken beyond repair. It’s in a million little pieces.

― James Frey, A Million Little Pieces

The Glue

The solution is always in the problem. The young man should have asked the Old Woman, perhaps? She might have had a different perspective. She might have gotten out the glue, as in days of old, and glued all those million pieces together again! Or perhaps she might have created a stained-glass window. Or, if she was really, really, really wise, she would have looked at the pile of broken shards, and bending low, she might have exclaimed, “Oh look how this one shines! Just like you! You are like this shiny, broken piece—one in a million!” And with that she would have placed it in some special place so that you would remember how special you are.

Listen to remember how simple the answers of light are!

Immortality is Practical and Orderly, and it never gives up!

Yes, magnificently enough, this is true! And the simplicity with which this takes place should bring great peace to our understanding. Life! My life, your life, our lives… Have we forgotten the miracle of existence? Every day a choice to live in love one with another. We act as if we are not sure about the hereafter—as if there is some guesswork, some roll-of-the-dice involved. And yet everywhere about us—all around us—from the springing up, blooming and decaying of flowers, to the ever-changing cycle of the seasons–we behold the immortal wonders, the eternal order of the endless cycles of creation all about us!

Be still for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground!

Sagittarius 26° “An actual potential.”

The Span of Detachment – The 2nd Hemisphere of Sagittarius

Phase 266

Fire Element – Mutable or Common

The formula is: manipulating-practical-original-generalizing-spiritual-experimental.

Dr. Marc Edmund Jones provides the official meaning of this Sabian symbol in his work, The Sabian Symbols in Astrology:

Sagittarius 26° A flag-bearer

This is a symbol of the enduring significance which tends to overshadow the more immediate interests or wholly selfish concerns of man, and the emphasis is on the natural supremacy of common ideals over mere individual ambitions. Implicit in the symbolism is the call for a high self-sacrifice, and for the development of such new dimensions of experience as will permit the self to realize its transcendental aspirations. Every resource of normal life is commandeered for the greater potentiality.

The Keyword is NOBILITY.

When positive, the degree is spiritual exaltation through some dramatic or vital service to all, and when negative, a resort to empty show or a demand for false credit.

Merlin ~ The Reawakening of Lemuria

This is what is changing the world right now! ~ David Icke

Blindness vs Eyes Closed

“The man with sight, but with his eyes closed, differs from the blind man, although neither is seeing. The first man has the capacity to see, which the second man lacks. There are then potentialities as well as actualities in the world. But when the first man opens his eyes, has he lost the capacity to see? Obviously not; while he is seeing, his capacity to see is no longer merely a potentiality, but is a potentiality which has been put to work. The potentiality to see exists sometimes as active or at-work, and sometimes as inactive or latent.” Sachs (2005)

Nothing can stop you now!

Aristotle spoke of Energeia – of potentiality and actuality and the relationship between the two. “The concept of potentiality, in this context, generally refers to any ‘possibility’ that a thing can be said to have. Aristotle did not consider all possibilities the same, and emphasized the importance of those that become real of their own accord when conditions are right and nothing stops them. Actuality, in contrast to potentiality, is the motion, change or activity that represents an exercise or fulfillment of a possibility, when a possibility becomes real in the fullest sense.”

Virility, Femininity and Nobility

“What is the most beautiful in virile men is something feminine; what is most beautiful in feminine women is something masculine.” Susan Sontag

Nobility

See me, see my nobility-

tall, pillar-straight; strength

of stone; sheen of polished marble;

each muscle sculpted; each foot

firmly planted, sure my journey

follows the right path; my righteous

spear upholds freedom’s banner.

Follow my example

Yet – out of sight, know

my reflection ripples

with uncertainty, warped by

world’s flaws; spear no longer

flies true, banner wavers.

Where is the truth? Make

up your own mind. I am

on my journey. Find

your own my friend.

Sally J. Blackmore

The Final Chapter

“On resiste a l’invasion des armees; on ne resiste pas a l’invasion des idees.” Victor Hugo (1802-1885) Translation “One can resist the invasion of armies; one cannot resist the invasion of ideas.”

Yet, until those ideas take root within, and cause the seed of truth to awaken, the blind will continue to lead the blind or closed eyes will remain closed. Either way, there will be no sight, no awakening…

Sagittarius 25° “Giving the Mysteries voice.”

The Span of Detachment – The 2nd Hemisphere of Sagittarius

Phase 265

Fire Element – Mutable or Common

The formula is: manipulating-practical-original-generalizing-social-inspired.

Dr. Marc Edmund Jones provides the official meaning of this Sabian symbol in his work, The Sabian Symbols in Astrology:

Sagittarius 25° A chubby boy on a hobbyhorse

This is a symbol of the ambition by which man ultimately manages to leave his immortal stamp on the world around him, here dramatized in his desire for a fullness of living and a perfection of accomplishment. The individual employs whatever means are available for trying his hand at the skills through which he would know his expanding self-fulfillment, and in his days of play and training he learns to fix his eyes steadily on the pyramid of goals ahead.

When positive, the degree is an indomitable determination to give the lesser potentialities of existence a more effective dimension, and when negative, idle self-indulgence and ingenious claims of merit.

Wonder of the World 2 of 7 ~ The Piano Guys ~ How Great Thou Art

Today’s Septenary speaks of the way of coming to the mysteries prepared to receive, to emulate!

Alignment with Divine Will is both a protection and a requirement before the Mysteries will unfold, before they can be understood, and before their power may be made manifest in the world. There are no shortcuts. The Mysteries are self-protected from any thievery by mankind. In the meantime, man will think that he knows. He will exercise his right to claim inspired thought, perceived might, unrelenting fortitude. But in the end, he will find that knowing the path and walking the path are not the same thing. Then he will bow in humility and his true learning will commence. He will be recreated as if for the first time. He will hear with new ears and see with new eyes.

The Wonder of Seven: Creation!

One of the last books that Dr. Marc Edmund Jones wrote was Fundamentals of Number Significance. In it, on page 358, he speaks of the number SEVEN, which we will look at today. Why? Because a numerological reduction of 25 is 7! And today we are giving the Mysteries voice!

“The number SEVEN has the final consideration in a proper numerology as a prime number illimitably liquid, or directly representative of the universe of flux like ONE and FIVE. In the way that FIVE or absolute intermediation of a sort is more akin to ONE or basic source, SEVEN in a special independence of self-sufficiency within the ten-fold scheme has a more effective affinity conversely with TEN or the supernal ONE. It provides an expression of a species of completion to be celebrated as in the idea of a sabbath to bring the week into a fullness of realization or accomplishment. …

“Apparently and perhaps almost from the dawn of human intelligence, man has found the SEVEN to be a sacred number and so he has given it great prominence in his religious beliefs and practices. He may have had his first confirmations of the insight involved in the fact of the seven fundamental heavenly bodies he early took into account in his omen divination and its growth into horoscopic astrology. This was taking the sun and moon or the lights into account as functionally akin with the five true solar planets. Mythology and early metaphysics and even simple art and life symbolism have given unlimited significance to this number of fulfillment or its potential. Thus seven days were assigned to creation itself. There were the seven wonders of the world, the seven sages of the Greeks, the seven churches in Asia, the seven words spoken by Jesus on the cross, and endless similar listings. This cultural genus tends to draw all desired culmination of life into essential and effective relevance.” MEJ

This is a symbol of the persisting imminence of real rewards in experience, and of an ever-immediate danger of failing to see or welcome them. Implicit in the symbolism is the need for a conscious worthiness of selfhood as the foundation for any self-fulfillment, or for any capitalization on the opportunities to be found in everyday reality. This is a symbol of opportunity caught and held through its effective recognition in advance, here dramatized by the creative faith of those who risk their well-being in bringing their skills into pioneer areas of self-expression. The human soul must be a consistent manifestation of its own special genius, and the individual escapes any major impasse in his life when he is able to transplant his roots. Reality is never more sure than when regrasped in a radical reorientation.

Henry Wadsworth Longfellow’s last few years were spent translating the poetry of Michelangelo; though Longfellow never considered it complete enough to be published during his lifetime, a posthumous edition was collected in 1883. Scholars generally regard the work as autobiographical, reflecting the translator as an aging artist facing his impending death.

Michael Angelo, a poem by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, translated from DANTE, Par. xiii., st. 77.

Dedication

Nothing that is shall perish utterly,

But perish only to revive again

In other forms, as clouds restore

In rain the exhalations of the land and sea.

Men build their houses from the masonry of ruined tombs;

The passion and the pain

Of hearts, that long have ceased to beat,

Remain to throb in hearts that are, or are to be.

So from old chronicles, where sleep in dust,

Names that once filled the world with trumpet tones, I build this verse;

and flowers of song have thrust, their roots among the loose disjointed stones,

Which to this end I fashion as I must.

Quickened are they that touch the Prophet’s bones.

From the West Cemetery brochure of grave symbolism, in synchronous harmony comes forth the symbol of the Vault:

Vaults are substantial underground masonry structures that can contain several coffins, each vault being sealed with brickwork or a memorial tablet. They were  the preferred resting place for families, who could remain together in death as in life.

Why go there? It calls to me! I simply must! How can I not? This now becomes the thing that I cannot not do—the place that I cannot not enter—the step that I cannot not take!

The Span of Detachment – The 2nd Hemisphere of Sagittarius

Phase 262

Fire Element – Mutable or Common

Dr. Marc Edmund Jones provides the official meaning of this Sabian symbol in his work, The Sabian Symbols in Astrology:

Sagittarius 22° A Chinese laundry

This is a symbol of complete self-refinement through the unsuspected or even generally unaccepted activities of the community, and of a consummation of the being through specialized interests which may tend to deny man his more superficial communion with his fellows. A richness of living comes from a concentration on goals with remote reward, and from an association in spirit with souls of very high achievement. Here is imaginative self-sustainment through unremitting hard labor.

The Keyword is SECLUSION.

When positive, the degree is an unusual gift for maintaining poise and self-perspective in every unfamiliar or alien situation, and when negative, unnecessary acceptance of self-inferiority.

A Chinese laundry is a curious degree which has me wondering about what’s really going on behind the scenes, or how, exactly, are they cleaning things?

This pops up and provides an interesting parallel with the current political atmosphere. But this was 1959! Are we watching a movie-come-to-life?! First fiction, then… You know, right? The function precedes the form. Substance, activity, form. Here we are 60+ years later….

The Span of Detachment – The 2nd Hemisphere of Sagittarius

Phase 261

Fire Element – Mutable or Common

The formula is: manipulating-practical-original-generalizing-social-experimental.

Dr. Marc Edmund Jones provides the official meaning of this Sabian symbol in his work, The Sabian Symbols in Astrology:

Sagittarius 21° A child and a dog with borrowed eyeglasses

This is a symbol of man’s unimpeachably universal spirit, and of his realization that there are no absolute lines of demarcation between higher and lower life or between the varying stages of competency to be found in each. Self-consciousness requires a supplementation of its capacities in the structures and materials of each particular plane of being, and individuality develops as it enters into reality through its own characteristic modes of insight.

The Keyword is EXAMINATION.

When positive, the degree is an exceptional skill in the analysis of personal opportunity throughout the many dimensions of experience, and when negative, distorted vision and self-defeating prejudice.

“For a man to conquer himself is the first and noblest of all victories.” Plato

Sounds bad, huh? Sounds like we’re doing something inherently wrong. Er…

Take out a clean sheet of paper and a pencil. Now write out your statement. Bear testimony to yourself of yourself! Good. Now, write down your vision of your future. The Rest is Still Unwritten

Now consider the fact that this brand new vision you’ve just had will be interacting with and interwoven with the visions of others. Thus destiny is undetermined, ever changing and morphing as we travel through space and time with others. Also, there is the potential of discovering portals, intercepting by-ways and worm holes through which to travel more quickly and to realize a changed reality—some Never Never Land of our collective design and choosing…. A place that doesn’t even exist yet.

Are we starting to get the bigger picture yet? We are the creators, the ones we have waited for.

This is all about creating reality through character-building—mine and yours! Are you with me? Each of us is being called upon from on-high to design and bring into manifestation our best character traits to inhabit our own grandest vision of our own greater self. And that by being true to ourselves and regardless of what others think or how they might judge us. We each have the tool of 20/20 hindsight at our ready. We must do what we must do whether others understand us or not. We’ve been there. We’ve seen that. We must press forward!

Get your steampunk goggles on. Your mission starts now.
