“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” Marianne Williamson, A Return To Love: Reflections on the Principles of A Course in Miracles

Capricorn 19° A child of about five with a huge shopping bag ~ EXPECTATION

“Hiding something from ourselves.”

Capricorn 19° A child of about five with a huge shopping bag ~ EXPECTATION

What’s in the bag?

“I’m more interested in the question of observation—maybe the question of identity—rather than to try to affirm or assert.” Evan Penny

For who, me?

“With the self-portrait series, I delved much more deeply and much more personally into the ambiguity and the uncertainty of the image—the unreliability of the image—because, in both cases, I’m actually starting with what I look like now—not from what I used to look like. So, they’re both—the young and the old—are still a reflection in some way on how I look now. And I think, conceptually, for me, that’s to the point. No matter how we think we used to look, that information is not clear, it’s unreliable, and it’s all just a reflection on how we feel and imagine now.” Evan Penny, Ambivalent Sculptor

Take a peek?

Once you’ve seen it you can’t unsee it. ‘No exit’ is a 1944 existentialist French play written by Jean-Paul Sartre. The play is a depiction of the afterlife in which three deceased characters are punished by being locked into a room together for eternity. … Sartre’s ideas about “The Look” and the perpetual ontological struggle of being caused to see oneself as an object in the world of another consciousness.

The look

The Look – The mere possible presence of another person causes one to look at oneself as an object and see one’s world as it appears to the other. This is not done from a specific location outside oneself, but is non-positional. … This transformation is most clear when one sees a mannequin that one confuses for a real person for a moment. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Being_and_Nothingness#Part_3.2C_Chapter_1:_The_look

Left holding the bag

What’s at stake here is the loss of identity, and equally, the potential for identifying “identity”.

No Exit lyrics by Jacky Bastek

Tell me all your shame
Confess to all your crimes
We’re locked behind these walls
We must be damned souls
You seem a bit odd to me
As you have no control
Insanity creeps all over us
You must be my torturer…

Capricorn 18° The Union Jack ~ SUPERVISION

“Identify your ideal.”

Capricorn 18° The Union Jack ~ SUPERVISION

Quite maddening, really

So, a little bit of light in dark and a little bit of dark in light. It’s all really quite maddening, isn’t it? Until it isn’t. Oh, don’t you see? It’s not about out there, but in here. Come! Come in here and see it from the inside out, not the outside in. Or would that work as well?! I think it just might! Brilliant! What brilliance!

Perfect circumstances

Not what is happening, but rather who you are while it is all happening. Look back! The last two days—naked in the showers of ridicule then bathing nude like nobody’s business! LOL! Don’t you see? You do see don’t you?

Oh come now

It’s really all a silly game! We just wanted to see who you were when you got yourself all together again. Union, you see! Union! Getting yourself together….Super Vision!

Sign up for classes here

Welcome to the School of Hard Knocks. Your first class will be Look before you leap. Then on to Don’t cut off your nose to spite your face. We’ll finish the first trio with Walk before You Run.

What you don’t know won’t hurt you

Well, there’s the catch. Yes it will. Every time it will be knowledge gained at a high price. Besides, we’ve already been hurt, you see.

No pain, no gain

Yesterday was about all those deep hidden insecurities we bring forward into adulthood from our childhoods. Those terrifying days of peer scorn and bullying. Perhaps we were the bully or the scorner! Let us hope not. Either way, however, conscience and/or self-consciousness is on the table today. Here we are dealing with the other extreme—the opposite reaction.

All things in moderation

Don’t be so extreme! Settle down. Today can be provocative or provoking. Sure the little miss has every right to be bathing in the nude, but she’s chosen to do it “surreptitiously.” That means stealthily and with skill. What’s going on in that mind of hers?

Is she up to no good?

She’s hoping to be seen but acting as if she’s not. She’s playing coy. You can bet she’s blushing and batting her eye lashes. To be seen but not seen? This is no regular little miss. She’s got an agenda and she’s working it. Consider that as you consider this:

Just how far are you willing to go?

Capricorn 16° Boys and girls in gymnasium suits ~ ANIMATION

“Give it everything you’ve got.”

Capricorn 16° Boys and girls in gymnasium suits ~ ANIMATION

You go first

Anyone here have fond memories of gym class? How about the showers afterwards? Anyone? Anyone? I’m thinking not so much… Stirring emotions or memories, most likely. That’s today’s ANIMATION. The animal stirring within. We do become animated and excited. Buttons, deep down inside, can be pushed.

Irony in the gym

The word itself, “Gymnasium” is Latin; from Greek gymnasion, being derived from Greek gymnos, meaning “naked”! But here they are—girls and boys suited up! What lurks beneath the surface is the idea of peer pressure and ridicule. At a minimum we have retained from history this drawing out and public display of our insecurities and fear of inadequacy.

History in the raw

The Greeks: In Hellenistic times, Greek-speaking Jews would sometimes take part in athletic exercises. They were then exposed to ridicule because they were circumcised — a national and religious custom which was unknown in the Greek tradition. In fact the Greek athletes, even though naked, seem to have made a point of avoiding exposure of their glans, for example by infibulation, tying a bit of string (kynodesme) around their foreskin. In Roman-occupied Jerusalem, Jews using the gymnasium would wear prosthetic foreskins made from sheep gut in order to avoid ridicule for being circumcised.

The Romans: …To appear nude in public was considered disgusting except in appropriate places and context: the public baths (originally open to both sexes) and even public latrines were as popular meeting places for all as the forum. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nudity_in_sport

Growling insecurities

Born into varying degrees of dysfunction imposed upon us by familial and socio-cultural values—the hype of the media—the unspoken class system by how much dear old dad and mom earn and whether or not we’re wearing last year’s fashions, and just how we measure up compared to those who have preceded us in the stages of puberty—the almighty initiation into adulthood–we all go through the resultant insecurities when we are thrown into public places where the physical being meets with competition and judgment.

Not quite, but almost, startling

Today seems to speak of a karmic confrontation of the collective. You may well feel that this is all about you—that you are the only one suffering. Not so! Today is about us—all of us! Don’t be blinded! Look around you! Count the suffering ones! Can’t see them? Remove your self-consciousness and insecurities for just a minute! See her? She’s ready to cry! See him? His stooped shoulders, his downward gaze? Does this surprise you? Seriously? Do you think you’re the only one?

Suit up! Get naked!

Capricorn 15° Many toys in the children’s ward of a hospital ~ ABUNDANCE

“The conscience will show the way.”

Capricorn 15° Many toys in the children’s ward of a hospital ~ ABUNDANCE

No lip service tolerated

When lip service isn’t enough. Time to put your money, your actions, your ideals, your value, and your faith–the power to create–where your mouth is.

Every rose has a thorn

An ounce of protection is worth a pound of cure. That is true. The Little Prince did not leave his rose unattended. He knew it had thorns; it was the adult that informed him that thorns are not enough. We do need to protect self and others, but only in appropriate measure. The measuring rod of growth. Will my protection defend the unprotected and vulnerable parts or will my protection prevent needed growth. That is the question to ask. Listen wisely for the answer from within. Then follow your own divine advice, no matter how difficult that may be.

Those mountains!

Looking back, ask yourself, did I conquer my mountain or did my mountain conquer me. Be a conqueror! Yes, do put your best foot forward. Give it up, no matter what it is. Don’t give up, but give it up. …the resistance to whatever it is your conscience is asking of you. Just do it. No, it will not be easy. Nothing that is worth it ever is. Free yourself from the cycle. Go and don’t look back.

That which you resist persists

Loving yourself and loving others will never be wrong. Never. Don’t let anyone–not even an adult–tell you differently.

Vastness

There is here established that vehicular prototype for the building of a life—for good or for ill.

Precious cargo on-board

What’s your foundation? What benefits are intended to be derived from such an establishment? Do you intend to play to the audience or are you willing to stand alone in your mission? Do you have all that you need to progress your intentions? Are you accepted by others? Is there a welcoming place for you in the world around you? (Or are missiles in-coming?) Where are you heading? What is your aim? And, then, are you able to respond and adjust to the change ever-present around you?

Capricorn 13° A fire worshiper ~ MAGIC

“Ever a work in progress.”

Capricorn 13° A fire worshiper ~ MAGIC

Can’t stop me now!

When you hear your own fire burning the decree, “Lead, follow or get out of the way!” Know that your divinity has spoken. You are welcome to go ‘round the block as many times as you please. But doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results? Seriously? You are too smart for that.

Let’s take a peek inside!

Oh how the world would tempt us to look outside for our understanding and conception of self-worth! Fools, the lot of us, if we buy off on that. And give them one chance to rob you of that precious burning gem within, and they will take it all…or at least will keep trying. Therefore, guard your holy self! You ARE the treasure!

Where the fire burns!

There is a symbol called The Helm of Asgaard which speaks to this burning within. It is our core. Let this mighty symbolism speak to that divinity within you and guard it evermore:

The Helm of Awe
I wore before the sons of men
In defense of my treasure;
Amongst all, I alone was strong,
I thought to myself,
For I found no power a match for my own.

Take it to the limit!

Be daring, but wise. Be humble, but brave. You are under construction, a work in progress. You are not finished with you yet, nor will you ever be. Sideways or up, let this be your motto. Onward, ever onward.

Capricorn 12° A student of nature lecturing ~ EXPLANATION

“It’s time to believe in you.”

Capricorn 12° A student of nature lecturing ~ EXPLANATION

Con Templo

Why do we contemplate? Why do we look into the mirror? What are considering? Are we looking for an explanation and understanding for what we see there, what we are thinking about what we see? Today, the first day of the annual cycle, is a STUDENT of nature lecturing. Not a professor! Not an expert! This is about learning and being able to deliver what we have realized in our study…of ourselves, of our own nature, of what and who we see standing before us in the mirror. Are we young at heart? No matter the number of revolutions around the sun, let us be eternally young—and a student lecturing—from the heart!

Lucid Theory

“Think about your body. What a wonderful home our souls have! Notice how it endures things your heart has long given up upon. What do you do for it? You don’t have to eradicate every piece of cake or workout 24/7 to pay it back. Sleep a lot. Sleep at noon, in the afternoon, at night, sleep in the morning if you can. If you can’t live without your daily piece of chocolate, there’s no need to. If you want a strong, healthy, fit body you can have it. Go buy yourself a nice yoga mat, sexy workout clothes, the Free Runs you feel guilty of liking. Self-misery doesn’t contribute anything to attaining it. Acting out does. Take care of your spirit too. Meditate often. Light a lot of candles. They make everything seem softer and calmer. Pour your thoughts into something constructive. Write every day. Write poems and grocery lists and stories, document your every day. When you’re 16 or 17, not a single thing of what you do seems magnificent but when you become 25 and you feel lost within yourself, these memories will bring you back.” McCall Rollins http://www.thelucidtheory.com/blog

Hi, Peter!

I look in the mirror and who do I see,
Demon or angel staring at me?
The good and the bad, the right and the wrong
Connected together, where they belong.

For the battle is mine to fight to the end
Not to win or to lose, but to come out shaking hands.
Both sides share in common this body of flesh
Both share the same footsteps and face the same tests.

So the struggle lies not in which one will decide
But that both learn the art of true compromise
To accept and forgive, to learn and to grow
To look back in the mirror and see myself whole.

You are a jigsaw puzzle. Begin by finding your corners. Now find the straight edges. Sort those. Make the frame. Now sort by hue and composition. Work out the male/female connections on the inside. Arrange groupings near like-composed edges. Experiment until everything fits in just right.

Turn to the Right! No! Your Other Right!

Got it together now? Whaddya think? Like what you see? My God! Who is that staring back? Grab your paintbrush! Apply another layer of oils. Let it dry. Break into pieces, Humpty Dumpty, and put yourself together again. Many of the masters had hidden paintings beneath… Just be aware of what you are covering up and why. Why you don’t ever want to look back and see that again. Good! Now, proceed forward.

Who? You Talkin’ to Me?

And now your reflection is talking to you. Good! We’re making progress! You’ve got until the stroke of midnight to respond. Lead, follow or get out of soul’s way. Change is upon you whether that will happen willingly and with cooperation or without and with resistance. You can kick and scream the whole way, if that’s what you choose to do with your time and space. Your life. Your choice. But, regardless, change is here!

Fine! Alright then! I hereby resolve to ….
